Beyond her work in health and longevity, Angie is a passionate cyclist and endurance athlete. While she considers herself a recreational rider, she has actively contributed to growing the female road bike racing community in Vancouver. She has hosted and supported learn-to-race events, helping inspire women to progress in the sport.
Angie’s cycling achievements include:
• 2nd place at Whistler Xfondo 2023
• 1st place and QOM at Axel Merckx Gran Fondo 2019
• 3rd place at Whistler Gran Fondo 2018
• Competed in the Gastown Grand Prix, hanging in for 20 laps
Angie also served six years on the board of Cycling BC, advocating for both grassroots and elite cycling development. Through her team, Velogrit Lontreau, she has participated in ultra-endurance fundraising rides, including raising over $50,000 for Coast Mental Health in 2022 with the 2x4 Challenge—a grueling 180km, 4,800m climbing ride up SFU, Seymour, Grouse, and Cypress twice in one day.
Outside of cycling, Angie enjoys weightlifting, skiing, skate skiing, and wing foiling—sports she shares with her husband, Dr. Thomas Buonassisi, and their two young daughters, encouraging them to embrace movement, adventure, and resilience.
